Pathways Registration Update

Ed Farm envisions an inventive world in which all people have access to everything they need to fill or create the jobs of the future. One of the programs Ed Farm offers to achieve this vision is Pathways.

Pathways is a course for adult learners that focuses on Apple’s Swift programming language and employability skills. During the class, learners build confidence with coding, develop digital skills, and attain post-secondary credentials. Upon course completion, Ed Farm illuminates additional post-secondary pathways learners can follow to continue their journey towards software development, information technology, and entrepreneurship.

Pathways is free and available to adult learners who are 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and live in Greater Birmingham (Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, or Walker counties). The course runs 11 weeks with classes taking place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 – 8:30pm. Ed Farm provides access to iPads, MacBook Pros, and iMacs during the learning experience, and our highly qualified instructors utilize Apple’s App Development with Swift curriculum. Throughout Pathways, learners create apps and build confidence with coding concepts ranging from constants to strings to functions.

Ed Farm recently concluded its first Pathways cohort, and it was an amazing experience. Ed Farm aims to offer at least three Pathways courses a year, and, originally, the team had planned to start recruitment for the summer cohort in late-March 2020.

Due to the uncertainty around COVID-19 and Ed Farm’s commitment to creating a safe, supportive learning environment, the next 11-week Pathways course will now be offered in September 2020. We will share information about potential Pathways summer “pop up” opportunities soon. These opportunities will likely be offered as online learning experiences, so learners will be able to access them remotely.

You can apply for the next cohort today and receive updates from our team as we finalize scheduling. We will also share updates regarding summer “pop up” opportunities. Thank you for your patience during this time of uncertainty. We look forward to Cultivating Change with you.
